Nathan Roy Schur

Nathan Roy Schur of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at his residence at the age of 70 years. Born on January 10th, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, Nathan has lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. The son of the late Gilbert and Beryl Schur, Nathan was raised with a strong sense of family and values, which he carried with him through every chapter of his life. Nathan's journey began in Chicago when he graduated from Thornton High School in 1974. Driven by a passion for learning and technology, he pursued higher education and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1993 and then a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1999. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a rewarding career in engineering and technology. In 1986, Nathan embarked on a long and successful career at Calsonic Kansei, where he worked as an Engineering Technician. His dedication and skills saw him rise through the ranks to become a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer, a position he held until November 2007. Nathan's expertise and commitment to excellence then led him to Keihin North America, Inc., where he contributed as a Research and Development Engineer until his retirement in 2020. Nathan proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, active duty from 1976 to 1984, and later in the Air National Guard from 1990 to 2004, retiring with the rank of E6. His role as a Computer Systems Maintenance Technician was a testament to his technical acumen and patriotism. In his personal life, Nathan found joy and companionship with his beloved wife, Cheryl, whom he married on April 12, 1980. Their union was blessed with two children, Daniel Schur and Melody Windley, who were the pride of Nathan's life. Cheryl's passing in May of 2022 was a profound loss, yet Nathan found solace and love again in the company of Ms. Julie Eggli, who brought joy to his later years. Family was at the heart of Nathan's world. He was a devoted father and a playful grandfather to his five grandsons: Elijah and Ben Schur, and Jack, William, and Samuel Windley. Nathan shared a close bond with his surviving sisters, Mary Junod with her husband Roland, Laura Rebot with her husband Richard, Aletia Podlecki with her husband Paul, and all of his nieces and nephews and their families, each holding a special place in his life. Nathan's interests were as varied as they were passionate. A lifelong science fiction enthusiast, he was captivated by the mysteries of space. He delighted in the simple pleasures of life, from fishing and metal detecting to beekeeping and the sweet reward of harvested honey. Nathan's sense of humor was silly and gentle; he always enjoyed a good dad joke or a secret ice cream outing with his grandsons. A respected member of the Elk Valley Beekeeping Association, Nathan was known for his gentle spirit and generous heart. His legacy is one of kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family, his sweetheart Julie, and friend of the family Ms. Sunday Perkins, who fondly remember him as a loving brother, father, uncle, grandfather, companion, and dear friend. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Harton Regional Medical Center and Life Care Center of Tullahoma, whose care and dedication provided comfort to Nathan in his later days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of choice in honor of Nathan's memory. Though there will be no funeral, the memories and love he shared will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
