Frieda Loretta Massingille-Mangrum

Frieda Loretta (Massingille) Mangrum, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at NHC Healthcare in Tullahoma, TN. She was the daughter of the late John D. and Lizzie Ray. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee with Pastor Billy Levengood officiating. Burial will follow at Head of Hurricane Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Manchester VFW Post 10904. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Tommy Ray, Charles Ray, James Harvey Ray, and Red Ray; Three sisters; Johnlee Limbaugh, Duckie Bailey, and Corina Boles; two sons, Ricky Joe Massingille and Gary Wade Massingille; one grandson, Steven Massingille. She is survived by one son, James Lewis (Pam) Massingille; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frieda had a strong work ethic and was never afraid of hard work. She spent many years working as a waitress before eventually operating and owning several small restaurants in the Tullahoma area. She had a strong personality, a stubborn streak, and definitely liked being the boss—qualities her family will remember fondly. Frieda had a true passion for yard sales and could never pass up a good bargain, she loved searching for that perfect deal. Her family affectionately crowned her the "Yard Sale Queen," a title she proudly earned. She was especially fond of her little tan Ford Ranger, which she drove all over town. She enjoyed taking a good ride through the country, walking outside, working in the yard, and listening to country music. She had a particular love for songs by Loretta Lynn, and she even got a chance to visit Loretta Lynn's ranch with her son James a few years ago. As her health and memory began to decline over the last year, Frieda made her home at NHC Healthcare in Tullahoma. During her time there she developed special bonds with many staff members and residents, often offering to help with anything she could. She often expressed her happiness there, what began as a place of care, quickly became a place she could call home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the entire staff of NHC Healthcare for creating such a warm and welcoming home environment and for providing Frieda with exceptional care, compassion, and kindness.
